Enter to win in the annual Ottawa Valley Chapter Photo Contest

Send us a photo that captures the beauty of our Canadian Parks and Protected Areas / Canadian Wilderness and Wildlife and you could win cool outdoor gear and other fabulous prizes as well as have your photograph published in Ottawa Valley Chapter publications!

Entry deadline: March 31, 2009.

1st Prize - Prize package containing outdoor gear (valued at $150);
2nd Prize - The Howls of August by Mike Runtz and Wolf Country: Eleven Years Tracking the Algonquin Wolves by John and Mary Theberge;
3rd Prize - CPAWS T-Shirt and Hat.

Honourable mentions (4 to 12th place)

Eligibility

All entries must be Canadian content.

The contest is open only to CPAWS members who are Canadian residents, except employees/volunteers of the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society or any of the organization's chapters or sponsoring companies. This includes their immediate families, cohabitants, agents or contractors. Photos entered must not have been previously published.

Format

Digital entries only may be submitted electronically as jpeg files. Digital files should be at least 1600 pixels wide for a horizontal image or 1600 pixels tall for a vertical image, and no larger than 4MB (4,000 KB). Content alteration of digital files is not acceptable; cropping of photos is permitted, tonal or colour corrections are acceptable, including black and white conversion.

Entries

Limit of two entries per entrant. All entries must be submitted by email to photo2008@cpaws.org

* Entries may include low-impact, non-mechanized recreational activities in a park or wilderness setting

Publication

Winners' names and photographs will be published on http://www.cpaws-ov-vo.org.  Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society-Ottawa Valley Chapter reserves the non-exclusive right to publish any entry and/or use any entry in promotional material. Model releases are the responsibility of the entrant and must be available in the event the photo is a winner. All photos will be credited to the photographer.

Deadline

Entries must be emailed to photo2008@cpaws.org before 4:00 p.m. EST on March 31, 2009. Winners will be announced mid-April and contacted by phone or by email.

Responsibility

Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society-Ottawa Valley Chapter is not responsible for any failure of the website during this contest. Nor is it responsible for any problems or technical malfunctions of computer online systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment, software or any e-mail, online or internet entry lost due to technical problems or traffic congestion on the internet or at any website or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to an entrant’s or any other person’s computer or property related to or resulting from playing or downloading any material in the promotion.

With regard to any photograph submitted to this contest, you, or the owner of copyright in the photograph, retain all copyright. By submitting (via email) any photograph to this contest, you grant (or warrant that the owner of such materials expressly grants) Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society-Ottawa Valley Chapter, royalty-free, irrevocable and non-exclusive right and license to use, copy, adapt, transmit, communicate, publicly display and perform, distribute and create compilations and derivative works or merchandise from any such submitted photograph to promote the contest. You represent and warrant that you have the right to grant the license set out above.
